Just heard about these on the Packet Pushers Podcast. Neat little remote access boxes that can also serve as a GPS or cellular-based stratum-1 time server. http://www.opengear.com/
It's not quite clear from the spec sheets which modes can actually serve as stratum-1s, but it is a listed feature. As I already have a need for a "last-resort" or "out-of-band" access solution, I am thinking this might be a good way to get a stratum-1 "for free" in all our datacenters. Little guys run Linux of course. Is anybody using one of these Opengear boxes as a stratum-1? If so, which models, and how does it work? Note that I would likely be relying on CDMA signals for timekeeping, as roof access is impossible on the 33rd floor of a 50-floor high rise ;-). -- RPM _______________________________________________ pool mailing list [email protected] http://lists.ntp.org/listinfo/pool
