I just acquired one of these (https://www.tindie.com/products/akafugu/vfd-modular-clock-iv-18-smt-with-gp s/?pt=full_prod_search) with the GPS-option. I was wondering if I could actually use it as a source for my ntp-server (if nothing else - just to see how accurate the clock is)? It's powered by usb - and the firmware can apparently quite easy be modified using online tools (http://www.akafugu.jp/posts/products/vfd-iv18/usage/) and hooking it up to a pc - so maybe the required data could be transferred via usb after modifying the firmware? Anybody have any experience with this piece of hardware?
