To those involved in parish ministry or are well versed in the rubrics of
the liturgy:

Does the General Instruction on the Roman Missal (GIRM) or any other
important liturgical document comment on the proper reception of the
Eucharistic bread during Mass? In particular, do any such documents
comment on whether or not the Eucharist must be received standing up?

I ask the question since a certain individual I know who is fond of the
pre-conciliar custom of receiving the Eucharist knelt down is planning to
engage in a potentially tense meeting with his new pastor, who refuses to
dispense the Eucharist to anyone who desires to receive the Eucharistic
bread on both knees. I m hoping to help the aforementioned individual
avoid a major conflict situation.

Any advice is appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Ryan

well-being of his brother or sister (cf. Genesis 4:9, Luke 10:29-37, Matthew
25:31-46)."
