howdy y'all, I had been hibernating until daylight savings time came. I hope
I find all of you well. today is a lovely day in the California desert.
Superchunks' "Foolish" is such a great record, (playing right this very
moment). I became curious about this "Mod" discussion. coming from the L.A.
area most of my life, there is a pretty big "Mod" revivalist scene here.
there are plenty of clubs (Cafe' Blue, Shout, Bang, etc.) and various
shindigs throughout the year, (Mods May Day, etc) the "Brit pop" scene has
grown remarkably large here as well, (same clubs and a few others like
PopSuperstar). I guess I have to admit to being an Anglophile myself. I am
not a Mod though. I do own a Lambretta, I do dress rather "Brit" I guess.
but compared to the terrible fashion that is the norm or "cool" in southern
California, British, European, and Japanese kids just dress much better
(cool PoP kids of the world, unite and take over!!!!!). they actually have
fashion and a real fashion sense. alot of that has to do with being in a
much smaller country with less demographic differences. less racial,
cultural, & geographic boundaries. if you went to Kentucky, I think most
people would not know what Mod meant, let alone what it represented or
looked like. anyways, back to the topic at hand, Mods. most of them seem to
be suit wearing, Quadrophenia watchin', Motown dancin', stuck up types
around here. they are waaaaay too clicky and conceited in my eyes. they'll
talk to you if you are deemed worthy. and forget about trying to talk with
the Mod fems if you're not wearing a suit circa 1965. the guys get
overprotective anyways. so to avoid a fight.....you get it. that's what
ruins things around here, exclusivity and bad attitude. I do have fun at the
clubs, I like the music, & like to dance, but people should be friendlier
with each other. scooter rallies and good shows are much more fun. got to go
and get ready for work. bye.

p.s. I missed the Flaming Lips and Looper last Thursday and I'm still very
depressed about it.
p.p.s. I saw the VH1 special on Oasis, it was humorous, but strangely
fascinating, (maybe I'll go se them next week).
