We intend to switch the default Python version from 2.3 to 2.4 anytime soon. This means that all ports using Python will use version 2.4 instead of 2.3, which was the default until now.
Python 2.3 will remain in the tree. We are currently running bulk builds with Python 2.4 enabled to see if there are any ill effects. If you have any comments in this change, now is the time to speak up. - Marc Balmer
