I don't know if this is maintained any more or not, but maybe just
gutting the re_comp bits entirely is an option. It's not like freebsd
is missing regcomp. "Here, 10 lines less code. And simpler!" may be
easier for upstream than endless fiddling with endless lists of
operating systems. Just thinking.
