Jan, i see that mike hommey fixed the issue in debian with this: https://salsa.debian.org/mozilla-team/firefox/-/commit/87df541b27a0b012e843978a0343f2918e0f2f58 (corresponding bug is https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=960012) it looks like a simpler fix, have you considered it in FreeBSD ?
