Howdy friends, Lot's to tell you about in Hellcountry but first, I'd like to tell you about the highly anticipated "Country Ladies Night" showcase this Friday 1/29/99 at you guessed it...the Kendall Cafe http://www.thekendall.com in Cambridge, MA. The show is $6 and will get underway at 9pm sharp. First up is Mary Gauthier at 9, then Nash Satterfield at 10, and from NYC's legendary 9C Opry - Elena Skye & the Demolition String Band will finish out the night. A fine night of music courtesy of some of the most talented female songwriters our community has to offer. Don't miss it. Then, this Sunday 1/31/99 marks the second installment of Jimmy Ryan's (of Wooden Leg) pickin' party at the Kendall. The first one was a hoot, with Sean Staples from the Vinal Avenue String Band joining Jimmy during the second half of the evening...and this one promises to be even better. Bring your acoustic instruments and join in, or just sit back and listen...either way the show is free. The pickin' will begin around 8:30 and continue until somewhere around 11pm I'd expect. Also this week Hellcountry will be featured in the Friday Boston Herald, with a story by Tristram Lozaw on the series and Steve Morse will plug the show in his 'Rock Notes' column Friday. Also, take a look around town for a copy of the new issue of Country Standard Time which also features a nice article written by Jeff Remz on the series, cover with Steve Earle and Del McCoury.
