Subject: [pfx] Re: External command delivery using virtual_alias_maps?
Lombra via Postfix-users:
Hi,
I have a virtual setup, and want to use some addresses as aliases for
external commands. I understand that this is possible only using local
delivery, and I have got it working by setting up an appropriate lookup
for the alias_maps parameter, but I am interested in reusing
virtual_alias_maps. Is this at all possible?
Only the local(8) or pipe(8) delivery agents can deliver to an
external command. You can define a localpart only alias entry in
alias_maps, or use transport_maps to route a user@domain address
to a master.cf service that uses a pipe agent.

If I'm reading the manual correctly, virtual_alias_maps does in fact
apply to local recipients, and there is transport_maps, so I feel like
all the pieces are there, but I'm not sure how to put them together.
Thank you.

Hi,
I'm taking up this again on a new server. Alas, I seem to have misplaced
my configuration and (mental) notes on how to accomplish this. What are
the exact lookups that need to happen for a mail sent to [email protected]
to execute /usr/local/bin/mail.sh?
The exact address and script are just examples; I need for it to work
for any address script pair that I might add, and so I can't use
master.cf services. I have a working setup with virtual mailboxes, where
example.com is also a virtual domain. The database bits I can work out;
I just need to know what the sort of lookup flow is going to look like.
For that matter, is there anywhere anything like an overview or
flowchart of all the lookups that happen on delivery?
