Hmmm....

I believe Ubuntu, Debian, OpenSuse, Fedora, etc all have Postgis in 32 & 64bit 
prepackaged & ready to install.

I run PostGIS on 64bit on a daily basis.
Daniel: how about building postgis from sources ?
