I've swapped out my bad floppy from my 540; being curious, I also opened up
the plastic module from my 1400- it's the same Mitsusishi mechanism in
both, just the 540 has brackets to hold it in place. Not surprising.

Is it easy to find just the drive mechanism cheaply? The modules go for a
rather spendy price on ebay, usually.

Also, the 540's drive has mangled heads- they were still "down" when a
floppy was inserted, is my guess.

Anyone tried gluing these back in place? they don't look that far off, and
I can see where they were; I figure I might as well try. Of course
alignment could be annoying, I could end up formatting data or disks that
only work on my machine :) (could be handy for work related stuff,
sometimes, I guess- "I gave you the data on floppy...)

thanks,

Brian
