I haven't tried it on a PB exactly, but I have tried it on other Macs with varying degrees of success. It's painful on anything less than a 200mhz 603e, and only really feels decent on a 604e. I've had better luck with VPC overall. As for your exact problem, did you install Windows separately yourself or did you use the default install from Softwindows? The couple or three times I've used SW the initial install was somewhat broken and I had to reformat and reinstall the DOS emulated disk. Worked fine after that.
