well, I run 8.1 in mine, but you've pointed ouit an important fact: 
7.6.1 is the LCD for a fair amount of software.

(Did you perchance catch 'Frontier House' on PBS?? I mention this to 
point out that a 'more genuine experience' may not be all it's cracked 
up to be...)
