This all sounds great, but how well would 9.1 work on a stock 3400/180 with 144 megs of ram?
I am really tired of the constant crashes in 8.1 with any browser. I doubled the memory allocation for IE 5.1 and it is better, but I really get tired of waiting five minutes for the spinner to stop so I can switch to another task (I'm always doing two or three things at once it seems). iCab crashes as bad as IE, so does Opera. People say 'UPGRADE!' but I used to do it on my Pentium 100 and Windows95 all day without having to wait like that (or resort to asinine things left over from the 80s like manual memory allocation!) Of course it took years to get the Pentium configuration right so it WOULDN'T crash semi-hourly. I won't go back to windows and don't have the money for an iceBook, but did everyone in the late '90s put up with this kind of stuff on Macs? -- Russell - Unknown1 - Idaho USA http://idaho.cjb.net [EMAIL PROTECTED] An Idaho railroad news and discussion list. > From: Brian <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> (PowerBooks) > Date: Sun, 07 Jul 2002 21:12:04 -0400 > To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> (PowerBooks) > Subject: Re: G3 upgrades and quicktime? > >>> I've read a couple of rants on the web about the Sonnet PB/G3 upgrades and >>> quicktime issues (crashes), but they usually refer to a pbsource.com web >>> page that I cannot locate at powerbooksource.com, and their search engine >>> doesn't display useful summaries of hits. >>> >>> Is it a real issue, or is there a fix? >> >> I have a G3/333 in my 1400c running 9.1, and nary a crash or freeze.
