Thanks to everyone who posted a link (and more than once). I didn't read yesterday's post clearly and I've trashed it .
Like yesterday's poster, my first reboot also resulted in a System bomb. Restarted w/ Ext. off and disabled Apple Enet and the extension for the 3400/G3 built-in modem/ethernet card, which my 3400c/180 doesn't have anyway. The 3Com card shows on the Desktop and I was able to input my TCP/IP under "Alternate Ethernet". Sweet! But that's where it ends. Apple System Profiler doesn't show TCP/IP as having a connection or "link" . No software can see my network. The AppleTalk control panel also has the Alternate Ethernet option, but can't switch to it because there's no connection. A closer look at the card reveals that the light on the 3Com cable that plugs into the card is not lit. I'm using known-good everything else. It looks like the card works, but the cable doesn't? Am I forgetting something? -David -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
