What is the exact model number of the 3Com card? > The 3Com card shows on the Desktop and I was able to input my TCP/IP under > "Alternate Ethernet". Sweet! But that's where it ends. > Apple System Profiler doesn't show TCP/IP as having a connection or "link" > . No software can see my network. The AppleTalk control panel also has the > Alternate Ethernet option, but can't switch to it because there's no > connection. > A closer look at the card reveals that the light on the 3Com cable that > plugs into the card is not lit. Sounds like a dead or improper dongle. When I first got my 3C589C for my 1400, I was mistakenly given a 10/100 dongle (with LEDs) that unfortunately fits the 10MBit cards (with which it doesn't work). This doesn't hurt anything but it's not very useful either :-) You'll need to find a true 10MBit dongle, which I've seen for sale for around $5-$10 if you look sharp. Most of the dongles are interchangeable between the entire 3C589 line (mine came from a friend's 3C589D that she wasn't using anymore). -- ----------------------------- personal page: http://www.armory.com/~spectre/ -- Cameron Kaiser, Point Loma Nazarene University * [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- "I'd love to go out with you, but I'm rethreading my toothbrush bristles." - -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
