This is not true. The battery that comes with the 3500
(Li-Ion) is not a higher voltage than the Li-Ion
battery for the 3400. Although, the 3400 can use a
Li-Ion battery or a the NiMH battery for the 5300 and
190. The voltages are slightly different.

Old Li-Ion batteries will often show a lower voltage
than new ones. But, you don't specify if your new
batteries are NiMH or Li-Ion. Usually batteries
selling for $19 new are NiMH, but they should say on
them.

No risk, they are OK.
