I've just been looking into this in regards to moving a file 2GB or greater to a 
server and the problem appears to be AFP in that case.  However, on the hard drive if 
the drive is formatted HFS+ (Mac Extended) then you can have a file that larger or 
larger without a problem. You just might not be able to move it anywhere else.
