eBay and the swap list would probably be your best bets. The answer to the cable modem is a definite maybe. Ethernet-based cable modems are capable of working, however many cable setups use the ethernet cards MAC address to authenticate. It's somewhat questionable whether a cable installer would hook it up to an old Powerbook. Some of them have configurable MAC addresses, some don't. Not sure which do. Naturally if you got it working with a hub, everything would work fine. USB based cable modems won't work without some kind of router or sharing software on the computer it's connected to.
