I'm tryning to figure out why I can *no longer* connect my iMac (original Bondi) to my
PB5300cs via ethernet.

PB setup - MacOS 8.1 (just did a fresh install to see if that was the problem - it
doesn't appear to be), 40 MB RAM, GV Platinum Pro modem/ethernet card, AppleTalk set
to Alternate Ethernet and turned On.

I open the File Sharing control panel, set up a Network Identity, and click on the
Start button underneath "File Sharing off" and wait - and wait and wait. The folder
icon has the network symbol blinking on and off next to it, but file sharing never
starts - I hear HD activity for a little bt but then it stops (FWIW, the iMac HD
activity contiues until the Start/Cancel File Sharing button says Stop, the the HD
activity ceases). It just says "File Sharing starting up" and will stay like that
until the battery dies an hour and a half later, if I let it go that long.

The MAJOR pain about this is that it *used* to work.

I can turn on file sharing on the iMac and connect to the PB that way - the iMac's
shared HD comes right up on the PB screen, and I can transfer files back and forth, so
I assume that the ethernet connection is working ok.

I also went through Apple's suggestions on their Knowledge Base on file sharing a
PB5300, but to no avail.

Any suggestions from y'all will be greatly appreciated!
