the latest version able to run on a pre-G3 mac is VPC 3. I've tried to install VPC 4 on my 3400 but it refuses to launch and claims for a G3 or G4 processor. > system requirement information except for v. 5 and 6. Also, I have a > Window's XP CD-Rom...after installing VPC will I be able to use that XP CD > or just the Windoze CD that came with VPC? Thanks in advance. VPC emulates the PC hardware, it means that you can (virtually) install any OS designed for a PC using their normal CD (including all windows and DOS versions and linux). But, sorry to say that, Win XP would be horribly slow on a real 240 MHz PC, so i let you imagine what it would be on a software emulated PC. I've VPC 3 on my 200 MHz 3400 and the only usable Windows on that is Win 95OSR2. Very slow but usable. I first had Win 98 (which was included with VPC) : each time i pressed a key on the keyboard, i had to wait 2 or 3 seconds before seeing the letter appear on the screen. Maybe suitable for very patient people but not for me. Feel free to try XP on a 3400 :-) Peace, Mehdi -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
