I'm not sure exactly how to approach this one.

Some time ago I acquired a Travelstar external PCMCIA HD for my PB3400 OS 8.6.

It works pretty good, though I had trouble initially moving files between the HDs due to an apparent i compatiblity with ValueFax extensions. Turn off VF and no worries.

My purpose for the Travelstar was princaply back up, So I dragged my 3400 HD contents onto it and felt safe.

The other day I'm trying to find a poem in my archives to send a friend and all I get is an unconnected alias. I look on the Travelstar. I look on the 3400, all the Word 5.0 file have become only aliases.

Now, I'm not entirely sure that all the Word 5.0 files have become alias, but all of my writing history has. As far as I can tell, Word '98 files have been unaffected.

As you might imagine, I'm a little upset. Could this be a virus?

Thanks,
Cliff
