Not with the sonnet upgrade. Even sonnet warns against 8.6 with the
upgrade. I repeat, w/g3 upgrade, 8.1 or 9.1 ONLY

Fair enough.

I have a NewerTech G3 on my 1400, with the maximum 64 MB of RAM.

Does NewerTech vs. Sonnet make any significant diff in the choice of OS?

IIRC, yes. 8.1 & 9.1 solves many issues. Also, if using 9.1, yu must
download and use the 9.2 start up disk control panel

I use a NT G3 250 and the 9.1 startup disk w/o any problems. I have found both 8.6 and 9.1 to be stable and about equally slow. :-) I prefer the 9.1 as I am more familiar with it. BTW, 1400cs & G3 250, 64MB RAM, 128 VM and the system software on a CF card. Booting from the CF card also.
