Hello,
I would like to check the procedure to reset the PRAM settings and the Power Manager on the 3400.
a. do I take out the battery before re-setting the PRAM? are these instructions right?

To Re-set PRAM
1. Shut down powerbook, making sure Caps Lock is not on. Unplug AC adapter.
3. Press on Power Key and immediately hold down P - R - Option - Command keys.
3. Keep holding down the 4 keys until a start up chime sounds after the initial startup chime.
4. If the computer shuts itself off, press the Reset button at the back or turn it on with Power key.
5. After the computer has started up, select Shut Down from the Special menu.
6. Plug in the AC adapter. If the computer stays shut down, you have successfully reset the PRAM and Power Manager. Restore any custom setting for the desktop, memory, network, Appletalk, trackpad, etc.

To Re-set Power Manager
However, if the computer powers on when you plug in the AC adapter, re-set the Power Manager by:
1. Remove battery. Disconnect AC adapter and unplug it from the wall outlet.
2. Press and hold Reset button for at least one minute.
3. Plug AC adapter to the wall outlet, then into the powerbook.
4. The powerbook may start up. You should be able to choose Shut Down from the Special menu.
