On my 3400 you can boot into open firmware by pressing "ctrl alt o f " ***just after*** the startup chime starts to sound. Timing is crucial and you wont get it right first time.

you'll get a black dos-like screen.

type "reset all" and press return

I believe that really resets everything, not just the pram.

I wish I knew what other commands there were in the OF prompt. I did a search but came up with very few.
