I've got a stock 1400/133 with 48 MB RAM and OS 8.1. I need to run MS Word and Excel having to send out multiple documents to several people, most of them using PC's (poor guys). My issue is that Office 2001 just runs too slow on this machine to be useful. So I'm looking for suggestions without having to spend too much money. I know a G3 upgrade would probably do the trick but not sure I want to spend the money upgrading this machine since for a few hundred more I could get an iBook or a Pismo. I thought perhaps earlier versions of Word and Excel would be the way to go. It seems that Word 5.1 gets mentioned frequently as a very good app. Any suggestions on earlier Excel versions would be appreciated. Also, does anyone know where I might find these apps?
