Don't quote me, but I'm pretty sure there's a preference you can set in a prefs file 
somewhere that'll let you shoot for lower resolutions.  I know there was a setting for 
lower colors, as my box wouldn't go to the resolution/color depth the game expected.

You might try comp.sys.mac.games.action or even Phil Sulak at Westlake Interactive, 
who I *believe* did the port.  I did the preview for the game over at Inside Mac Games 
while writing for them (I think it was for IMG) and I think I was bugging Phil to get 
it working with what he termed my "Frankenstein Mac" (G3 & Voodoo 3 upgraded StarMax 
3000).  He had all sorts of bits of magic he could pull out with a little text editing.
