Dear Group,
I found a nice 1400C, and I would like to get a wireless card for it.
If I have a wireless card can I go to a Starbucks and open up my browser and surf,
or do I have to to access via my ISP, which is Comcast, which I use with my iMac at home?
I also want to get a wireless system at home and use my 1400 to go on-line, but Comcast
said that the minimum system requirements are OS 9.0, and 128 MB of memory.
My 1400 has OS 8.6, with a 250MHz G3 processor and 48 MB of memory.
I guess that I can try to push it.
When I get a wireless system at home can a visiting friend access my home wireless just
like they would in a cafe, or would they have to have the Comcast Install Wizard on their machines?
I contacted Comcast, and they sent me some links that indicated that they could set up a system for
me, and that there would be a charge for additional computers, which could add up if one had several
old computers or several old friends with computers, that is, if I'm interpreting the information correctly.
I guess that my question is: What do I need to do to go wireless at the cafes;
and if anyone has experience with Comcast, what do I need to do to go wireless at home?
Thank you much for any information. Gary Z
