Greetings:

I'm reactivating my OS 8.1 PB 190 for the summer and would like to know
whether anyone off the cuff might know a listing of the "latest" or
maximized versions of software I can install on it.

On advice, I currently have Eudora 3.1.3, File Buddy 4.3.4, Graphic
Converter 4.1, ScrapItPro 5.52, Quicktime 4.03, Nisus 4.3, BBEdit 4.6,
AppleWorks 5.03, Fetch 3.03, SuffIt Deluxe 5.5, TechTool 3.06, Decor 3.04
and FaxST 3.25.

You're missing a web browser: Netscape 4.x, IE or iCab.

Oh yes, is there anyway to, shy of turning off the volume, to stop the
"window whooshing" sound whenever I drop or lower a window? I've OS 8.1 on
my PB 190 and the help features has zit whether this can be done.

That's in the appearance control panel, iirc, though it may have a separate control panel for the Windowshade stuff.
