Thank you for the encouragement. It looks like I need to find out which IR emissions leave PB5300cs in response to what content is being transmited, then line that up with which IR emissions received by Robosapien correlate with which commands (which IR emissions from Robosapien IR controller match which commands). At the very worst I can always aim the PB at Robosapien send one IR signal at a time and see what Robosapien does or does not do in response - Edison's try everything and anything one at a time until you get the results you want - long, slow process. Hackers have already found a way to convert RF signals to IR signals using IR remote/"though walls" transiever units used for changing channels on TV (in other rooms of the house, through walls).
