As a non-PTP user (at present), I'd like to hear thoughts on this: If you
were to try to squeeze as much performance as reasonable (for the dollar)
from a PTP, what would you do?

Max out the RAM, sure.

But install an Ultra Wide SCSI card and use fast SCSI hard drives? Or go
with an IDE controller and use less expensive and bigger IDE drives?

A processor upgrade, too. But where do you stop? At a G4 450? Or spend the
extra dough on a G4 800?

Newer video card? USB and firewire card (probably)?

Which OS?

Feel free to name particular manufacturers or components, if desired.

Have fun!
