I'm about to acquire a Mac 8500 with the 604e 180mhz processors. It has a
bus speed of 45mhz. Now I just had a peek inside my "PowerTower " and found
that the board is stamped "PowerCurve". Same with a PowerCentre 150 I have.
The Tower has a 132mhz processor, by the way.

Guru tells me the PowerCurve has a bus speed of 40hz. Have I really bombed
out on bus speed here?
Is there any advantage of putting the 8500's CPU on either of the 7200
boards?

One other niggling probem with a PCI USB card;
 I bought an 5 port Opti card at the markets the other day. System Profiler
saw it as a hub with 5 ports. Makes sense. It works fine in the desktop
machine, but it's really iffy in the tower.
Using a Logitech USB mouse as a test device, I sometimes don't get a mouse
at all, sometimes the Tower loses the mouse after abour 15mins, sometimes
it's OK. The Tower has a high profile PCI riser, the desktop has a low
profile. Reseating the riser has not made a difference. Also, the USB card
only works in slot C in either machine. I also have a Twin Turbo 128mg card
in slot B in the Tower.
Anyone got any clues?
