to the person looking for advice on tricking out his PTP --

1) buy more RAM (of course) 

you'll get your most bang from the buck from upgrading these:

2) CPU - any G3 or G4 upgrade will do
3) drive system - an IDE card and drive will do the trick.  
4) video - ATI Radeon 7000's can be had for just a little over $100

optional:
5) usb/firewire card - you don't need these if you don't have the devices
6) 10/100 ethernet card - if you talk to other computers on your network
that are 100bT capable this will make file copying much faster

ultra wide SCSI and/or firewire RAID drives will boost your disk
performance, but you'll quickly exceed the price of a new computer while
keeping the performance of an old computer.
