Spencer,

I have a PB 240 with a G3 accelerator that I have just replaced with a new
Power PC G4. In the PB, I was able to add a 30 Gig Maxtor IDE drive by
purchasing a VST UltraTek/66 PCI card. This ATA/66 card is much faster than
the built-in IDE connection and you can connect any modern IDE drive to it.
I believe you can purchase UltraTek/100 (or better, and surely lots of other
PCI) cards new or if you are interested I can sell you mine for $20 plus
shipping. (I'm keeping the Maxtor drive.). The card comes with 2 IDE cables
so you can connect a 2nd internal device as well--for example, I also
connected a fast CD-RW drive. I think you actually can connect 4 devices to
the card. One last thing about the VST card--it has built-in firmware that
allows the connected IDE devices to masquerade as SCSI; so your computer
will behave as though the devices are SCSI, not IDE, and all the abundant
SCSI software (like RAID) will work with it.
