There is also another way, using Apple Script. Considering that I am probably the least experienced of anyone in Apple Script, this was surpringly easy to do. Just record a script moving the icons to where you want them. You can even do this by selecting all of them and dragging them en masse to the desired location. Any method will work. Save the script as a run-only application (I think that that's the way to do it), and put it in your start-up items folder. Having said that, the icons shouldn't move of their own accord. Something has to be affecting them (a person dragging them, a change in monitor resolution, etc...) Unless I am missing something and that is always possible.
