Last night I installed my new 800 mhz Crescendo G4 into my old Powercenter Pro 210 Tower. In the process, I had to remove the CPU cooling fan. Now the new CPU card has a built-in fan, and the old fan doesn't really fit smoothly back where it was. IOW, I could force it to fit, but it would mean putting stress on the CPU card connectors.
Can someone confirm that I don't need the original cooling fan? I'm running OS 9.1 in the machine, and after I booted with the new CPU, I noticed several video anomalies. When I scroll the finder screen, the icons or lines get "splintered" as if they were overlapping. Refreshing the window by minimizing and restoring it fixes it, but it's very annoying. Has anyone else encounterd this? Sonnet Tech support suggested that I upgrade the video card, so, sucker that I am, I immediately ordered the new Radeon 7000 card that they are recommending on their website. I'm hoping that it will fix the problem. Does anyone have any experience with this card? The feature list claims "multi-monitor support." Does that mean I'll be able to attach a 2d monitor and expand my desktop? _________ | homas Thomas A.
