I have a sonnet g3/400, powerwave, 9.1, 10.1.5, Ixmicro UltimateRez 
3D.  I get the splinters sporadically in 9.1, but never in X.  I 
would think the gfx card upgrade would fix it.  CPU cooler fan is not 
neccessary (stock one you removed).
