Robert Baucom wrote: The answer from Douglas McNeil is a good one. Some folks installed OS 9.1 and boogied on with nary a glitch. Since I had been using the PCP 240 with Sonnet 500 MHz G3 board, since OS 8.0 and had installed every single upgrade, one at a time, it was more problematic in my case. The HP 6M Laser worked like a charm, the Epson Color inkjet 850 S/W had to be upgraded. I upgraded to OmniPage 8, for the same exact scanner you have. My ImageWriter II, tractor feed, Check Printer needed the "AppleTalk ImageWriter" Extension from OS 7.5. My problems were: 1/3 to 40% of the software on my disk had to be upgraded. What a nightmare. I ran Spring Cleaning getting rid of old defunk extensions left in the systems file from the various upgrades. No Monica, all the old Control Panels and extensions aren't removed when you upgrade the systems file. Then, some are still lurking in there from "Turbo Tax 1998", "WriteNow" and various free & Shareware you trashed months ago. Just "a'lookin' for something to conflict with. Conflict Catcher 8 was upgraded to 9 and run many times before it was all sorted out. IT WAS WELL WORTH ALL THE TROUBLE !!! Then it became the most stable Mac, I've ever owned. In fact, IMNSHO, OS 9.1 is the very best OS yet. OS 10, is ok to play with, but it's a couple of years away from being completely production friendly.
