I'm running OS 9.2.2 on a PTP with a Sonnet G3/450/1M card. The CD-Rom drive is identified as follows by ASP:
>Vendor: NEC >Revision number: 1.16 >Product ID: CD-ROM DRIVE:462 (Since I bought the machine used, I don't know whether I'm using the drive that came with it originally or not.) The unhacked versions of Apple CD/DVD Driver 1.2.2 and 1.4.7 didn't work at all. (The drive was undetectable.) I created hacked versions of Apple CD/DVD Driver 1.2.2 and 1.4.7. Both of them did handle data CD-ROMs alright but both failed in the same way with audio CDs. Specifically, every audio CD player I tried would show the CD tracks in its lists with the proper times, etc., but when I tried to play a track it would just run through the list as if each track were of zero length! There would be no error messages, but no music either! I fortunately had an old copy of CD-Rom Toolkit Extension lying around (version 3.0p) that seems to work pretty well. - Aaron P.S. Regardless of which driver I'm using, if I try to run AppleCD Audio Player 2.5.2, which came with both 9.1 and 9.2.2, I get the following error message: >Sorry, you must have Mac OS 9.0 or later >installed to run AppleCD Audio Player. > >AppleCD Audio Player will now quit. This seems strange, considering that I have OS 9.2.2 installed. I don't recall having that problem when I was running 9.1. The version of AppleCD Audio Player that came with 8.6 seems OK. >Reply-To: "Power Computing List" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >To: "Power Computing List" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Date: Sat, 31 May 2003 12:17:58 -0500 >Subject: Re: CD-ROM Toolkit Extension... >From: Chuck Stinnett <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > >Visit: http://www.macdrivermuseum.com/disk.shtml > >And try Apple's Universal CD ROM Driver 5.3.1.
