I was able to modify HD SC Setup using ResEdit, but it won't install a driver or initialize the main drive. I also tried using HD SC with a patch. but either way I kept getting messages that the drive can't be initialized.
I tried to partition the drive, but then I got messages saying that HD SC couldn't write to the drive. and then the drive wouldn't mount at all. so I finally had to reformat it with Hard Disk Toolkit so it would mount.

anyone know of another way to update a non-apple drive with an Apple Driver?
or is it really not important that I do so.

thanks
JT

I was previously running OS 8 on my PTP 200. I updated to OS 9. I tried to reformat the drive using the OS 9.0 retail disc, but couldn't. the drive(s) was previously formatted using Hard Disk Tool Kit.

my PTP HD is showing up as 2 disks: a 2gb and a 4gb (I think the 2gb is a Quantum drive) -- I don't know why, it didn't do this before.
I was able to reformat the 4gb drive & update it with an Apple Driver using Drive Setup utility on the OS 9 retail disc. However, the 2gb drive (the main drive, SCSI id 0) shows as "unsupported". I cannot reformat it because "unsupported drives cannot be reformatted" and I cannot try to repartition the drive or volume to allow me to create an apple driver for the same reason.
