I get mail from my server using my work computer and my home computer,
using POP. I have about 40 mail folders in PowerMail, and about 30 mail
filters. My mail database has about 70'000 messages in it, and between
us SpamSieve and I trash a couple of hundred junk messages each day.

I would love to be able to cut down on a significant part of my email
workload, by having stuff I do at one location reflected at the other.
IMAP seems to offer a way to do this, and having finally installed
Dovecot IMAP on my server I've been able to do a bit of experimenting. I
have some questions:

is it possible to filter IMAP mail?
how well does IMAP cope with large quantities of mail?
is there any way of having a centralised record of sent mail?

In particular, I need to be access all of my existing mail even if I
lose access to the server - but as far as I can tell, PowerMail only
displays cached IMAP mail while that connection exists. Is there any way
around that?

Thanks,

Daniele
