I have this problem on a G3 266, but I also had almost the same slowdown with a 500 Mhz G4 card and 1 GB of RAM installed. So count me as one of those that am hoping for this to be addressed in PM 5. I'd rather PM got the messages slower as that is a background process anyway. At least if the GUI is used. I'm now in the habit of checking only one account at a time out of my eight, which certainly helps, but perhaps not as much as I had hoped. This said, on the average I do think PM have improved the use of my email time considerably, but ten great things about PM is not a good reason to keep them at that count.
