I am sorry you had to vent,
But I must say we need to learn how to deal with copy protection, or
there will be no software vendor left for us. PM CP is not even a nasty
one like PACE InterLock/iLock, or M$XP for that matter!

And PM updater does not loose authorization unless your system has
something unexpected.

I depend on software in my studio. All the registration code is in 4
places, email, file server, Palm, and a notebook. I am sorry but I
failed to understand anyone who thinks 'all set' by having registration
code in email database only. I failed to understand anyone who depends
on email backups only once in 6 month (I backup every week).

Last summer, I performed at Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy. Right on the
stage during the sound check, one of my audio software funked out on me,
saying I am not authorized. I was using it at the hotel in the morning.
It's a major festival. You can imagine how much I got freaked out :-)

Sh*t happens. I left my Palm at the hotel. That was my fault but not the
software vendors, because auth error is almost always caused by HD
instability. I was quickly able to boot into OS9 which I have a backup
audio system, and finished the sound check in no time (well.. almost!).

CTMDEV seems to be a very small vendor, but I don't suppose it makes you
feel any better.

You do know OSX has PINE, right?
Oh, and you can run OE under Classic, too.
