Glad to know that I'm not the only one who is having this issue. Just
started on Thursday or Friday. Only difference is that I haven't been
able to trace it to any particular email address.

Yall,
On several occasions I've found myself wishing it were possible to right-
click on an attachment and do an "Open with..." via a different
application other than the default (e.g. an audio file into QT Player
rather than iTunes). In situations such as these, I'm forced to reveal
the attachment in Finder first. How about adding such a submenu to the
attachment context menu?
(I feel left out in that I haven't experienced the spam-hanging bug. Ah well!)

While I like your feature request, in above case I just drag the file
from the message to the QT icon in the Dock :-)

In my experience, when messages are deleted from the PM trash, any
attachments are trashed (into the Finder's Desktop Trash) as well.
The same also happens when the PM Applescript "Delete Message
Immediately" is used on an e-mail.

IME, the attachments themselves are deleted, but the html junk that Tony
is referring to are not. Little smileys and cute little gifs are left
behind which have to be trashed individually.
