Do you perform FULL reactor cavity decontamination after fuel reloading? Yes 2. If so, what method do you use (hydrolasing, foam, strippable paint etc). Submersible strippable coating applied prior to flood up. The coating is pressure washed after final cavity drain followed by stripping the coating. 3. Do you perform this with the reactor vessel head in position? If so, what mitigation to prevent the head from getting wet? Perform both the spray and removal with the head installed. We use a large cover sleeve to protect the head from paint and moisture. 4. If only limited decontamination is performed, to what extent and what methods are used? What is your experience with contamination, Hot Particles and airborne particulates? Poor cavity decon = hot particles, high contamination levels, and elevated dress out of head work. It's worth critical path outage time to get it right 5. If no decontamination is performed, why not? What means is used to limit contamination problems during the cycle and for the next outage? N/A Thank you in advance Tertius Karsten Radiation Protection tel: +2721 5504624 email: [email protected] NB: This email and its contents are subject to the Eskom Holdings Limited EMAIL LEGAL NOTICE which can be viewed at http://www.eskom.co.za/email_legalnotice ----------------------------------- Powernet - a service of the Health Physics Society Power Reactor Section Powernet archives at http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Reply to: [email protected] If Questions, contact Mike Russell, CHP at [email protected]
