Palo Verde provides the following response: Being a PWR, we do not have a comparable steam affected area; however, if you are incurring 200 mrem for each 100% power post outage survey I would ask what drives the necessity for this survey (UFSAR, steam line integrity, etc.). Typically, survey frequency is based on the potential for changing radiological conditions and occupancy.
If there is little to no value in this survey and it is not a licensee requirement I would think that you could adjust your survey frequency accordingly. CNS currently performs a 100% power survey post outage and accumulates approximately 200 mrem, and the question was posed do we need to perform this survey? At what frequency does you plant perform steam affected area 100% power surveys? Do you post the areas survey required prior to entry or do you do surveys on some frequency (semi-annual, annual, post outage 100% power?)
