At Robinson, our WBC is not located inside the RCA. We normally expect to see a WBC with no nuclides detected prior to allowing someone with a medical isotope administration to return to work inside the RCA. At a minimum however the individual must be able to pass through a portal monitor that also keep up at dosimetry (outside the protected/restricted area as well as outside the RCA)

Subject: Powernet: medical radioisotope injections
All,
What is the process that other sites use to clear individuals who have had a medical radioisotope injection? Are the individuals required to pass a portal monitor and a whole body monitor at the RCA exit? If the individuals need to enter the RCA in order to clear the monitors, are they given any dosimetry? Please provide comments to [email protected]
