Columbia's procedures require to the individual to turn in their DLR (TLD) to the dosimetry or radiation protection office prior to medical radioisotope treatments. If this is not possible they are to return their dosimetry as soon as they report to work. Radiation Protection will then restrict access to the RCA, perform a baseline survey of the individual, document the results, and based on the isotope administered schedule follow up surveys. Prior to allowing entry into the RCA the individual must be able to pass the Whole Body Contamination Monitors (WBCM), Argos-5 and GEM-5. Radiation Protection Manager or Radiation Protection Operations Supervisor must approve RCA entries for individuals who fail to clear the WBCM, monitoring requirements will also be determined at that time.
