Exelon's response:

At the time of TLD issuance, a hearing test is done in an office
environment with the individual wearing station approved hearing
protection. There is no attempt to replicate decibel levels in the
plant.

Subject: Powernet: RE: EPD Alarm Hearing Check

Palisade's Response:

* At the time of TLD issuance, when performing the audible
hearing check for EPD alarms, do you perform the check in an area where
background noise is generated at a decibel level that would generally be
encountered in the field?

Training provides this test in a classroom setting with a recording that
volume is adjusted to the appropriate decibels. Workers wear hearing
protection during the test and the instructor questions each trainee for
alarm recognition. Updated training record (pass/fail) is linked to RP
access control system controlling dosimetry usage.

* If yes, then how is that noise level achieved in a Dosimetry
office environment?

See above.
