Diablo Canyon - We have small check sources available at strategic locations to test the instrument response prior to use. The source is mounted in a jig (in most cases) and allows for a single count (or dose) rate response.

If at any time the instrument response to the source differs from the reference reading by more than 20% (for any photon instrument the reading should be at least ten times background), the instrument shall be returned to the calibration facility for calibration or for maintenance, repair, and recalibration, as required.
